9-10 May, Balgreen
The Irish team of Nathaniel Healy, Russell Harris, Brian Havill, Alan Looney, Huw Spiers and debutant Henry Bagwell travelled as holders to the new Scottish National Croquet Centre at Balgreen in Edinburgh. However Russell did a little unintended detour to say goodbye to the old venue at Meadows.
The Scots team of John Owen, Stefan Colling, Rosemary Saunders Robertson, Kathy Brown and Roger Binks were led by captain Chris Martin and had a clean sweep of the opening three doubles matches before the two afternoon singles sessions were equally shared 6-6, so the overnight score stood at 9-6 to the Scots. The venue’s catering volunteer Charlotte Townsend did a wonderful job in warming us up with a welcome bowl of soup as a chilly East wind took its toll in the morning. This was followed by an array of other delicious dishes. Led by tournament manager Jane Morrison we all retired for a wonderful Italian meal washed down by delicious wines.

The 2025 GC inter-club league consists of two all-play-all blocks, with the winners of each block playing each other in a final.
Each match will consist of two players from each team playing
- a best-of-one* handicap** doubles game, followed by
- a best-of-three* 13 point handicap** singles rubber each. Normally the lower handicap players will play each other, but captains may agree otherwise.
* The captains may agree in advance to play best-of three doubles and/or best-of-one singles, depending on time constraints. But in any event a match must consist of one doubles rubber and two singles rubbers, in order that a result is obtained.
** The extra turns system should be used unless the captains agree in advance to play Advantage GC.
Teams may be selected from a pool of players but no player may play for more than one team. All singles games count for the handicap card.
In the table below the team named in the row will have the choice of venue if there is a * in the cell, otherwise the choice will belong to the team named in the column. For example for Auchincruive 2 v Edinburgh 2, Auchincruive 2 has the choice of venue. If a match is not played the away team will be deemed to have conceded, unless there is a good reason.
